Contractors role access within AWP Construction

Last updated: 2026-02-04

In AWP Construction, users have varying degrees of access based on the roles assigned to their user account. Some users can only see specific contracts that they are assigned access to while others can see all contracts in the system. To request an AWP user account, go to AASHTOWare Project Accounts for more details.

The Contractors role is granted to Prime contractor staff only. The user account is then granted contract specifc authority to awarded construction contracts. The links below provide an overview of what components the Contractors role can access in AWP Construction:

Requirements:
  • Keep in mind the system is role based and roles do not have access to all components, fields and reports. For example, the contractors role cannot view DWRs or Daily Diaries.

  • Upon award of a construction contract (project), the contractor firm will work with the Project Engineer or the region Contract Specialist to have Prime Contractor representative(s) with the Contractors role granted contract specific authority to the construction contract. This will allow them to approve change orders and view payment estimates.

  • The Prime Contractor firm may request the contract specific authority to a LET contracts for multiple staff with the contractors role. The contractor firm should determine who the main contact for the contract is as system messages will be sent to all staff with the contractors role. These messages include contract status notifications and change order approval messages. Remember that only one Prime Contractor representative can be the main contact for the contract and that only one Prime Contractor representative should electronically approve a change order.

  • If an employee leaves a contractor firm, it is the company's responsibility to notify the AWP System Administrators so the employee's account can be disabled.

  • Only Prime Contractors are granted Contract Authority to their contract. Subcontractors will continue to use the Construction Contract Payment Viewing System (CCPVS) to monitor payment estimates including item payments.
