Adding or editing road segments

A primary road segment is used to identify the general limits of the project based on the route and the beginning and ending station.

1. Select the Road Segments tab.
   
   

2. On an existing road segment record, click expand the row and select the field(s) you wish to change.

   Info:

   • If this project was imported from FIIPS, a primary road segment record should exist.

   • If this project has not been imported from FIIPS, but was created in AWP Preconstruction or imported from Estimator, click <New> to create the primary road segment record.

3. Enter these required fields for a primary road segment record. Refer to the Project Summary Data Fields table for additional guidance entering these fields.

   Name	FIIPS Project Description Title only in camel case. Example: "Black River Falls - Tomah" is the project description title for "Black River Falls - Tomah; B-27-039 & 043 EB/B-27-040 & 044 WB"
   Description	Primary
   Route	Populated with data from FIIPS. Do not change. Examples: IH 090, USH 029, STH 034, CTH HH, VAR HWY, TWN RD, LOC STR, NON HWY, BUS 051 NOTE: Upper case values only.
   Begin Station	Begin station for the project in this format: STA 10+00 OR Log Mile 1.0
   End Station	End station for the project in this format: STA 25+75 OR Log Mile 3.5

   

A road segment is required for each category that is not tied to a structure.

Tip: If you have a category, that has mainly roadway items, but includes a structure, consider separating the structure into its own category. Then it can be associated to its own structure segment. Work with the Project Manager or the region FIIPS Coordinator to recommend and make this change.

1. Select the Road Segments tab to add or edit a road segment for the project.
   
   
2. To edit an existing road segment, expand the row and select the field(s) you wish to change.
   
   
3. To add an additional road segment, click <New>. Every category that is not a structure category is required to have a road segment.
   
   
4. Complete the required fields below for each road segment record associated to a category. Refer to the Project Summary Data Fields table for additional guidance entering these fields.

Name	Enter the Category ID and Category Description this road segment is part of in camel case separated with a hyphen.
Highway Number	Enter the highway name or three digit number with leading zeros. Examples: 051 for BUS 051, HH for CTH HH, 090 for IH 090, 054 for STH 054, 010 for USH 010, LOC for local street, NON for non highways, OFF for off system, TWN for town road, VAR for various highways, Note: Upper case characters only.
Description	Enter the highway/roadway name and number/letter with leading zeros, the local street, or town road name. Examples: CTH HH, STH 054, USH 010, the local street name like "Main Street" or the town road name like "Holmes Rd."
Type	Select a highway type from the drop-down list.
Route	Route type followed by the route number (Match the primary road segment record route field which is populated with data from FIIPs) Examples: BUS 051, CTH HH, IH 090, STH 054, USH 010, LOC STR, NON HWY, OFF SYS, TWN RD, VAR HWY Note: Upper case characters only.
Length	Enter the length of the road segment in miles.
Width	Enter the width of the road segment in feet.
Begin Station	Begin station for the project in this format: STA 10+00 OR Log Mile 1.0
End Station	End station for the project in this format: STA 25+75 OR Log Mile 3.5
Category ID	Select the corresponding category ID from the drop-down list.
