How to administer a construction contract

Last updated: 2024-02-08

Here is a list of topics that construction field staff should refer to when administering their construction contracts. This topic list was designed for construction field staff and provides a data entry guide for AWP Construction for construction contract management.

Tip: Refer to the WisDOT Construction and Materials Manual (CMM) for guidance on the administration and inspection of construction projects.

AWP Construction system access is managed using roles. A role is a name associated with a collection of security access rights to the information contained in the system components. A component is a web page containing all the fields related to a specific topic. When you switch roles, your permissions and system access are changed to reflect the areas within the system you can access to perform your duties under the selected role. Go to Understanding Roles for more information.

List of the current AWP Construction roles:

  • Accounting (Bureau of Financial Services for payment estimate processing)
  • BidLetContExec (Bid Let Contract Execution staff)
  • Chief
  • ComplianceSpecialist
  • ContractSpecialist
  • Contractors
  • FHWA
  • Inspector
  • ProjectEngineer
  • ProjectManager
  • ReadonlyConstr (materials engineers, construction oversight engineers, statewide utility coordinator, and other staff requiring access to construction administration information)
  • Supervisor
  • UtilityCoordinator (region utility coordinators)

Requirements:
  • All construction contracts that follow the WisDOT construction bidding process are administered in AWP Construction. Refer to How to Administer a Construction Contract for guidance.
  • The Materials Information Tracking System and Materials Information Tracking systems will continue to be used to enter material reports for all LET contracts for several more years.
